Frequently asked questions
Where does the session take place?
We work wherever your horse is comfortable!
If we're working in their stall, please make sure it is clean and free from distractions (haynets, toys etc)
If we're working on the crossties or in an arean, avoid booking during high traffic times such as feeding time, or during lessions to minimize disuprtions and distractions.
Do I need to be present for my horse's appointment?
It's important that you are present for your horse's first appointment, while I'm getting to know your horse and facility. We will also discuss our findings and create a game plan going forward.
You do not need to be present for follow up appointments, but please make sure you have let me know in advance and have made arragements to have your horse brought in, and turned out or handwalked after your session.
How do I get my horse ready for a treatment?
To get the most our of your session, your horse should be in, clean and dry (I can work with a little dust, but they should be gree of heavy dirst and mud) 10-15 minutes prior to their starting time so they can settle.
Your horse should have a full belly going into the session to reduce stress looking for food.
If your horse is stalled, hand walking for 5-10 minutes prior to their session is ideal.
Your horse should have a clean, dry lead rope (without a chain) and a well fitted flat nylon or leather halter
Try to resist feeding or distracting your horse during our session. This makes is hard for me to know what your horse is responding to. This includes correcting your horse. Pawing, head shaking and fidgeting is all important communication.
